The Faculty Council

  • Art. 36. The Faculty Council is the leadership structure within the PTI at the faculty level.
  • Art. 37. The composition of the Faculty Council is maximum 75% teaching and research staff, and minimum 25% students respectively. All Faculty Council members are elected by the universal, direct and secret vote of all full-time teaching and research staff, and by all students of the faculty respectively.
  • Art. 38. In conformity with art. 213, par. 9 of Law 1/2011, the Dean chairs the sessions of the Faculty Council and applies the decisions of the Rector, of the Administrative Council and of the Senate.
  • Art. 39. The Faculty Council meets before the meeting of the Senate and whenever it is necessary from the initiative of the Dean or at the request of at least one third of its members. The Dean convenes the meeting. The quorum exists is at least 2/3 of the voting members are present.
  • Art. 40. The jurisdiction of the Faculty Council is the following:
    • a) approves, at the Dean’s proposal, the structure, organisation and functioning of the faculty;
    • b) approves the faculty study programmes;
    • c) controls the Dean’s activity and approves the yearly reports concerning the general state, the quality assurance and the ethical situation within the faculty;
    • d) organises and guides the teaching, educational and spiritual activities;
    • e) assures the quality focused programs of the PTI and defines the means by which these can be realised;
    • f) elaborates and applies the regulation concerning the initiation, approval, monitoring and periodic evaluation of study programmes;
    • g) elaborates and initiates the informatics system which facilitates the collection, processing and analysis of the data and information relevant for the evaluation and assurance of institutional quality;
    • h) supervises the professional activity and spiritual development of students;
    • i) watches over the quality assurance of educational and research activities within the faculty;
    • j) approves the candidates for the positions of Dean, in conformity with Law 1/2011, art. 212, par. 4 and of the methodology concerning the organisation and carrying out of the election of PTI’s academic leadership;
    • k) coordinates the procedure of occupying vacant teaching and research positions according to the relevant regulation;
    • l) proposes for the Senate the long-term strategy as well as mid-term and short-term programmes concerning research, together with the specification of the practices to obtain and allocate the resources and the modalities of exploitation;
    • m) proposes for the Senate the establishment of research centres and workshops;
    • n) designates scientific tutors, professors responsible for the library, boarding school, canteen etc.;
    • o) proposes the edition of scientific publications;
    • p) proposes and ensures the participation of the PTI at different European and international organisations.
